The Third Annual Bear Creek Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the morning of Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Bear Creek Recreation Park - located directly across from the Turnpike entrance behind the Bear Creek Township Municipal Building.
The event will include separate egg hunts for children up to age 11 with prizes for various age groups, lunch, and a visit by the Easter Bunny! The event is free and open to the general public - you do not need to reside in Bear Creek or attend Bear Creek Community Charter School to participate. All are welcome! To learn more, view or print the registration form.
A special thanks to everyone who came out on April 4, 2009 - a cold and damp morning - to enjoy our second annual Easter Egg Hunt. More than 250 children registered to join us in collecting nearly 3,000 filled eggs! Just before the mad scramble for eggs, the Easter Bunny himself joined the children, escorted by Bear Creek Volunteer Hose Company. Following the Easter Egg Hunt, children and their parents were able to get in out of the cold and join the Easter Bunny for lunch at the Bear Creek Township Municipal Building.
And yet another round of thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who gave their time to prepare for the hunt as well as assisting the morning of the event. We couldn't have done it without each and every one of you. We look forward to a wonderful time again this year!
A special thanks to last year's community sponsors!
It was a beautiful Saturday morning, with temperatures in the upper 70s. Instead of sleeping in, about a dozen students of Bear Creek Community Charter School and their families spent the morning picking uptrash in Bear Creek Township. Members of the Youth Group and their parents proudly represented our school and community in the Annual Great Pennsylvania Cleanup. Hats off to everyone who participated!
Learn More About Statewide Efforts!
Safety along State Route 115 begins with motorists slowing down and obeying the posted speed limit. This includes reducing speed during the active school zone in the area of Bear Creek Community Charter School, along with reducing speed during inclement weather conditions.
The local group of residents pursuing safety enhancements along the highway are working towards a follow-up meeting with State Representative John Yudichak, and are urging the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commisison to become involved in the effort to educate out-of-area drivers accessing State Route 115 from the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, along with providing drivers of large trucks with more advance notice of the weight restrictions on Route 115.
The Bear Creek Community would like to extend our thanks to Captain John Dougherty and the dedicated professionals of the Pennsylvania State Police for their quick response to community concerns and their increased traffic enforcement efforts along Route 115.

This scholarship was created in cooperation with the family of the late Kimberly Biggs-Keil, to honor her memory as a parent, educator and activist. Kim's life came to an upbrubt end earlier this year as the result of a tragic motor vehicle accident along State Route 115 in Bear Creek Township.
Kim was a founding parent of Bear Creek Community Charter School, and educator in the Pocono Mountain School District, and a loving mother and wife.
The Bear Creek Foundation Foundation continues to collect contributions in Kim's memory. In the coming months, a scholarship committee will be created to designate the criteria for scholarship distribution.
